SOLARIS at  IEEE PES APPEEC 2026

The IEEE PES APPEEC 2026 Conference in Singapore provided a valuable platform for researchers and professionals to exchange ideas on the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of power systems.

Among the topics discussed was the increasingly important role of reliability in inverter-based renewable (IBR) energy systems. As the penetration of solar PV, wind, battery storage, and other inverter-based resources continues to grow, understanding and managing their reliability across different levels of the system has become essential.

At the conference, our reserachers at the University of Aalborg delivered a tutorial on “Reliability of Inverter-Based Renewable (IBR) Energy Systems: From Device-Level Physics to System-Level Assessment.” The tutorial brought together different perspectives on the reliability of inverter-based renewable energy systems, from device-level degradation mechanisms and reliability assessment to system-level considerations.

It was also an opportunity to present the recent research paper on “A Multi-Timescale Reliability-Aware Maintenance Scheduling Framework for Inverter-Based Resources.”

The conference offered an opportunity to exchange perspectives with researchers and professionals working across power systems, renewable energy, power electronics, and reliability engineering.
